McLaren reveal their 2022 challenger: the MCL36

McLaren will stick with their 2021 driver lineup of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo for the coming season. After a strong first half of the season, the team had quite a drop in performance and lost 3rd place in the Constructor’s standings to Ferrari by 48.5 points. The Woking-based team will be eager to get back under the top three in the Constructor’s Championship and with the new regulations, the fight is on!

McLaren decided to unveil their car as what seems to be a real 2022 car just like Aston Martin yesterday. The car features the now well known Papaya base colour with light blue accents just like last year‘s car. Additionally, there are many dark grey details on the car’s side. Unlike the Aston Martin, which uses a Mercedes Power Unit as well, McLaren found a way to incorporate the engine into the car without those small bumps that we first saw on last year’s Mercedes powered cars. McLaren is the first team, out of the four teams that have already unveiled their cars, to do a massive livery changeup. The car definitely looks fast, hopefully it is as well.

As already mentioned, the MCL36 will be piloted by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo and with them both finishing 6th and 8th in last year’s Driver’s Championship respectively, there is still some room for improvement. But with Lando Norris going into his 4th Formula One season with McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo hopefully having come to terms with the car, they both are set to deliver great performances over the course of the whole season.

With the first Testing-Session of 2022 going down in Spain behind closed doors, we will have to wait for the first official look at the brand new MCL36 and all the other cars out on track until the official Pre-Season-Testing in Bahrain starting March 10th.
