With costs driven even lower, it’s hoping to attract more original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to compete with the existing OEMs such as Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota.

It was initially proposed back in 2018 with the debut date set to be around 2021 but the pandemic has pushed it back all the way to 2022.

NASCAR President, Steve Phelps, said, “I think the world is just going to look a lot different at NASCAR once you get to the Next Gen car. The dynamics are going to change so significantly. There are many things that Next Gen will do for us as a sport when it rolls out.”

This will definitely be a new era of NASCAR and maybe one that guarantees more exciting races, audacious overtakes and a better race day experience for the fans overall.
