Romain Grosjean has commenced a process of arbitration against his former team, Andretti Autosport, as per a statement on the French driver’s social media channels.

Part of the statement reads:

I had expected to continue racing with the fine people of Andretti Autosport in the coming years. I am disappointed that is not being fulfilled, and wish Andretti team members well. I am pursuing other options to continue my IndyCar career in pursuit of excellence. I have commenced an arbitration proceeding in Indiana against Andretti Autosport, seeking to protect my rights.

RACER’s Marshall Pruett reported last week that Grosjean had been offered a contract renewal with Andretti, for at least the 2024 season, which he is believed to have signed. However, Pruett stated that Andretti then revoked the contract without signing it themselves, leaving Grosjean without a drive for next year.

Grosjean is now claiming this violation in their agreement, and has begun court proceedings to rectify this.

Grosjean has experienced a turbulent year at the Indiana-based outfit, where he showed true pace, especially at the beginning of the season, but could not convert it into victory. He recorded two podium finishes in Long Beach and Barber, but since then only scored one top ten, around the streets of tight and twisty Nashville.
