The 57th running of the Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy will take place this weekend with 139 cars split across 23 different classes. The class with the most attention is SP9, where regulated GT3 cars race with some of sportscar's finest drivers. The class is split into Pro, Pro-Am and Am depending on the driver's ratings.

Falken Motorsport will be fielding a single Porsche 911 GT3 R for the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) and Nürburgring 24h, with the number 44. Aligning with Falkens focus on "continuity and experience", 34 year old Klaus Bachler will once again get behind the wheel of the No.44, having won the only NLS race he entered last year.

The car's line-up remains unchanged with the No.1 on it's bonnet for this year, with Kelvin van der Linde, Augusto Farfus and Raffaele Marciello behind the wheel. The trio will be joined by Jordan Pepper this time, who is fresh to the BMW factory driver pool.

The SP9 (top class) cars roared down to turn one at 16:00 local time. Thomas Preining led the field in the No.911 Manthey EMA Porsche, otherwise known as Grello. The No.45 Ferrari started second with David Perel, but dropped to third on the first lap after being overtaken by the No.14 Mercedes driven by Maro Engel.

The No.911 Manthey EMA Porsche has led much of the race so far, leading at the halfway mark. They are followed by the No.98 ROWE BMW and the No.34 Walkenhorst Aston Martin.

The No.27 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini car has topped the warmup for the Nürburgring 24h, after some cars (not including Lamborghini) have received a last minute change in the BoP (Balance of Performance).

Top Qualifying got back underway at 4pm local time today, after the session was abandoned due to a massive crash for Laurens Vanthoor in the No.16 Scherer Sport PHX Porsche, that took them out of the race.

The No.16 Scherer Sport PHX Porsche that was due to be driven by Patric Niederhauser, Laurens Vanthoor, Ricardo Feller and Patrick Pilet has been pulled out of the N24 race due to a massive crash earlier, at the hands of Vanthoor.

Some racing series have simple qualifying sessions, such as a one-shot format, while others have more complicated formats with multiple sessions, such as the Nürburgring 24h.
