With reports of Formula 2’s finale in Abu Dhabi still in doubt due to conflict in the Middle East, the championship faces an unexpected setback, one it may not have prepared for at the beginning of the season: A premature ending, a champion decided in retrospect.

Trident have announced that Andretti junior Sebastian Wheldon will jump up to Formula 3 (F3) for 2027 with the Italian outfit. MP Motorsport revealed one of their two drivers for next season's F2 Championship, with Laurens van Hoepen joining the team for his sophomore campaign.

Rodin Motorsport have announced their first driver signing for the 2027 Formula 2 season, with Brando Badoer stepping up to the championship for the coming year. Badoer competed in Formula 3 in 2026 within the Rodin setup.

Invicta Racing have rounded out their driver line-up for the 2027 Formula 2 season, with Noah Strømsted joining 2026 Formula 3 runner-up Freddie Slater at the team in yellow for the upcoming season of racing.
