Brando Badoer steps up to F2 with Rodin Motorsport for 2027

Rodin Motorsport have announced their first driver signing for the 2027 Formula 2 season, with Brando Badoer stepping up to the championship for the coming year. Badoer competed in Formula 3 in 2026 within the Rodin setup.
Son of former Minardi and Ferrari Formula One racer Luca Badoer, the Italian has built a steady junior career, climbing through the ranks ever since he competed in single-seaters for the first time in 2022.
Stepping up to F2, though, represents one of the biggest milestones in Badoer's career, as he aims to replicate his father's journey and make it to the top tier of the road to Formula 1.
“I’m really happy to be announced as a Formula 2 driver for Rodin Motorsport," Badoer addressed, speaking on the announcement.
"I’m grateful to the team for the opportunity and the trust they’ve put in me, and after such a great season together, I’m excited to continue this journey.
The latest campaign in F3 was the Italian's second consecutive season in the championship. Badoer came into F3 in 2025 with PREMA Racing, but managed only 13 points in a difficult rookie campaign.
Entering the Rodin setup for 2026, Badoer joined fellow F3 sophomore Christian Ho and rookie Pedro Clerot, making up one part of a formidable line-up for the season ahead.
This second campaign yielded three podiums, including a maiden F3 victory on the streets of Monaco. Badoer started second on the road, making his way past pole-sitter Théophile Naël to take a race lead all the way to the chequered flag.
This already added to his success earlier in the season at Melbourne, when Badoer finished third in the sprint race. The Italian added to this success later in the year, finishing second at Spa and third in Hungary, on his way to eighth in the standings.
"I really feel like Rodin is a family," Badoer expressed, on the success of his season with Rodin Motorsport. "I’m looking forward to working with the F2 team, building on what we’ve achieved and creating more great moments together,” he continued.
Rodin Motorsport's Sporting Director Benn Huntingford was delighted to continue working with Badoer going into F2 in 2027, highlighting the strengths of his F3 campaign.
“I’m delighted to continue our relationship with Brando (Badoer) as he takes the next step into FIA Formula 2 next season," Huntingford said.
"He’s shown great progress throughout his first season with the team, securing a race win at Monaco and multiple podiums along the way, while playing a key role in leading our F3 campaign.
"His performances have shown what he’s capable of and we’re looking forward to seeing him build on that experience as he continues his career in Formula 2,” he concluded.
Badoer's career has been all about building up the performance with every passing year. A first Italian F4 season in 2022 did not yield much success, but a second season in the championship saw him finish sixth in 2023.
This matched his finishing position across Euro 4 and the F4 UAE Championship earlier in the year, as Badoer then stepped up to the Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) in 2024. He finished fifth in his maiden year in the championship, scoring seven podiums along the way.
