The FIA have revealed the next generation of Formula 2 cars to take to the track from 2027 until 2029, at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The new car features revised design elements, bringing it in line with the current generation of Formula One cars.

“After 10 years with a manufacturer, it was time for me to take on a fresh challenge.” These were the first words of Mitch Evans after taking up a lucrative offer to join and lead Opel’s upcoming Formula E entry in Season 13, the first year of the championship’s Gen4 machine being used. For many, it will definitely be a unique sight to see Evans turn up in fluorescent overalls instead of the iconic shades he donned during his Jaguar days.

In a major development, Envision Racing have announced the departure of their current driver line-up at the end of Season 12. Both Sébastien Buemi and Joel Eriksson will be departing the team in green after the London E-Prix, as revealed by the team ahead of the race weekend.

Formula E unveiled a grand, 21-race calendar on Tuesday morning, the longest in the championship’s history. A total of 13 weekends will play host to the new Gen4 Formula E cars in 2027, with the first race at Jeddah in December 2026, and the season set to conclude in Tokyo in July the following year.

German car manufacturer Opel will be entering Formula E in Season 13, finally putting speculations of their next step in motorsport to an end. The Stellantis-owned manufacturer will make up the second Formula E entry by the conglomerate, replacing the outgoing DS Automobiles on the grid.

DS Automobiles will officially depart Formula E at the end of Season 12, parting ways with American motorsport arm Penske after a four-year partnership, and a total of 11 seasons with three different manufacturers in the championship.

Andretti's Jake Dennis will extend his contract with the American giant into Season 13 and beyond. The Briton has been a cornerstone of the team's rise in Formula E, winning seven E-Prix across six seasons with the franchise.
