Formula E's newest outfit has unveiled striking new shades to adorn its Gen4 challenger for 2027. Opel will become one of two new teams to join the all-electric championship in Season 13, and the German squad will sport a tri-colour livery going into the coming season, adorned by the traditional yellow, and enhanced by black and silver excerpts on their Gen4 challenger.

Opel have generated plenty of headlines going into Formula E's Gen4 era. After an official announcement of joining Formula E was revealed during the Madrid E-Prix weekend, the German marque signed Sophia Flörsch as a Development Driver.

The team completed their driver signings for the upcoming Gen4 era later in the year, bringing two formidable names in Théo Pourchaire and Mitch Evans for an exciting start to their Formula E career.

Ahead of their official in-person reveal at the 2026 Paris Motor Show in October, Opel have delivered a trailer of their Formula E livery for the Gen4 era.

Opel have delivered a bold message through their livery for Formula E's Season 13, terming it as a fusion of "Heritage meets the future." The traditional yellow and silver draws from Opel's Mokka GSE rally car, used in Opel's one-make GSE Rally Cup, while the shade of black draws from the German company's sports car racing origins in the 1990s and 2000s.

The marque revealed this trademark shade as "Yellow means go", highlighting the fluorescent shade as "cutting through the exposed carbon" to give it a distinct look. “It is bold without being aggressive and technical without being complicated. Yellow means go,” expressed Pierre-Olivier Garcia, Global Brand Design Manager, Opel.

The body of the car carries the yellow inserts first unveiled by the team through testing renders earlier in the year, with the shade present on the body of the car, the front nose-cone, and inserts on the tyre rims and the rear wing.

The carbon black adorns the sidepods and parts of the front nose cone, carrying a unique shade of Opel's "Lightspeed stripes" and resembling the airflow over and around its Formula E car.

A shade of silver, described as a metallic 'spine' running down the centre of the car, sits predominantly on the front nose cone, extending through the halo and cutting through the sidepods and the cooling vents.

All in all, the car's design is such that the three distinct shades of colour are visible from a distance. "Airflow becomes linework, energy becomes colour and efficiency becomes precision," Garcia said, expressing the aim behind the design for Opel's first ever Gen4 challenger.

“I think the final design looks fantastic," Evans expressed, delighted by the machine he will be driving in the Gen4 era. "It builds on our concept and testing livery in a more refined way, while still feeling unmistakably Opel.

"The additional silver gives it a sharp and sophisticated appearance – and, most importantly, it looks fast,” he continued, full of praise.

Opel have become the third team to reveal their Formula E livery for the Gen4 era, following Envision Racing and Citroën Racing. With the upcoming season featuring a new dawn in Formula E, Opel's addition to the championship adds another layer of excitement to the wait for the season to begin.

Opel will be revealing their livery globally at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, taking place from October 12 - 18, 2026, allowing the visitors to catch a glimpse of the striking livery in person.
