Zak O'Sullivan partners up with Max Günther at Envision Racing for Season 13
Envision Racing have become the fifth team to announce their full driver line-up, with rookie Zak O'Sullivan stepping up from reserve duties to partner Max Günther for Season 13, the first year of Formula E's Gen4 era.
The British driver currently races for Team Impul in Super Formula, sitting 11th in the championship with two weekends to go. O'Sullivan scored a podium at Fuji earlier in the year, showing a marked evolution over his first season in the championship in 2025, when he finished down in 15th.
Alongside his duties in Japan, the 21-year-old served as Envision Racing's Development Driver, joining the team for the 2025 Berlin Rookie Test. O'Sullivan has also driven for the team in two other rookie-specific sessions: Rookie Free Practice in Miami, and the Madrid Rookie Test earlier in 2026.
In the same manner as former reserve Joel Eriksson, Envision have rewarded O'Sullivan with a full-time role, ahead of the upcoming Gen4 era of Formula E.
“I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season," O'Sullivan described, speaking on the news of joining Envision Racing as a full-time driver. "I’ve spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can’t wait to get the season started in the new GEN4 car.
"Formula E is a championship I’ve had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling.”
O'Sullivan joins Günther, who announced his departure from the erstwhile DS Penske outfit at the end of Season 12. The German driver brings experience to his new team, forming a strong blend of rookie flair and an experienced head to kick off Formula E's transformational era in 2027.
The British driver received high praise from team principal and CTO Sylvain Filippi, who has tracked his development over the course of the past two seasons.
“We are very happy to announce Zak as a full-time driver for Season 13 and beyond," Filippi expressed, delighted to bring the youngster on board.
"We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well. We have been very impressed with Zak’s performance, both on the track during the rookie sessions, and his commitment off-track.
"We are very much looking forward to seeing him race in our car and embarking on his rookie season in Formula E with us.”
O'Sullivan definitely brings a wealth of talent with him to Formula E. Once a Williams F1 junior, the Briton drove in Formula 2 in 2024 for ART, taking a special Feature Race victory in Monaco courtesy of a late virtual safety car period, before scoring another win at the sprint race in Spa later in the year.
He left the championship before the end of the season, citing financial issues that prevented him from continuing to race in the championship.
O'Sullivan also finished runner-up in Formula 3 a year prior, adding to his GB3 title in 2021 and a runner-up finish in the British F4 season in 2020. He also brings versatility to the series, having driven in Super GT in 2025 and 2026, currently sitting third in the standings with three rounds to go.
As Formula E evolves towards faster cars and the Gen4 era, the team's investment on young talent and O'Sullivan has been rewarded with a race seat.

There is no doubt Envision will be looking ahead to their new line-up to deliver the goods once Formula E's Gen4 campaign gets underway with pre-season testing at Jarama in November 2026, and at the first round of the season in Jeddah.
