Last weekend’s Mexico City E-Prix showed that several new storylines are developing in Season 12 of Formula E. Up and down the grid, Mexico City proved to be a challenge and provided some surprising results. Here are five vital storylines following on from the E-Prix.

Nick Cassidy took his first victory of Season 12, and put Citroën Racing's name up on the winners board for the first time. The New Zealander pulled off a stellar defence late in the race at Mexico, fending off a charging Edoardo Mortara and Oliver Rowland until the flag.

After an exciting and attritious season opener in São Paulo that threw up more surprises than you’d have expected, the mantle now shifts upwards in the Americas. Mexico City becomes the next venue to be in the spotlight, with a new layout, a landmark for the series and a highly competitive Formula E grid expected to put on a show!

Formula E returns to the vibrant streets of Mexico, with this weekend’s outing at the iconic Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the 2026 Hankook Mexico City E-Prix. As the teams and drivers prepare themselves to traverse Mexico and the ever-vibrant Foro Sol stadium in the second race weekend of the year, there’s plenty on the line.

Former McLaren and Maserati Formula E driver Jake Hughes has been announced as Mahindra Racing’s Reserve and Simulator driver for Season 12, alongside Formula 2 racer Kush Maini. 

Formula E’s season opener in São Paulo brought it all — drama, excitement, ecstasy, relief and more in perfect measure. It marked the perfect way to kickstart Formula E Season 12. A race victory for Jake Dennis kicked off his Season 12 campaign.

Season 12 kicks off in São Paulo, with Pascal Wehrlein getting pole position for the first race of the season. Win went to Andretti driver Jake Dennis , followed by Oliver Rowland and Wehrlein itself.

Four months of silence, break and lull have finally broken to give way to Formula E's Season 12, with the São Paulo E-Prix kicking off the run to the flag for Formula E's Gen3 era. 20 drivers and 10 teams will embark on a nine-month journey across 17 races, in a bid to crown a champion.

An announcement long in the making has finally been made official. Mahindra Racing have committed their continuity in Formula E all the way until 2030 — when the Gen4 era will come to an end.

Nissan has announced that 12-time Formula E race winner Sam Bird will be joining the team as the Reserve and Development Driver for Season 12.
