Formula E’s return to Sanya has been highly anticipated amongst drivers, media personnel and fans alike. Last time the series visited the city, only eight drivers on the grid today were racing in Formula E. It’s a step into the unknown for the 12 who were establishing themselves across series such as DTM, Formula 2 and the junior racing ladder. But what are the key storylines to look out for, ahead of the weekend?

Formula E heads into the Sanya E-Prix this weekend, a long-lost venue from its Gen2 era, for the final standalone race of the season. It may just be one race, but it kicks off an important stretch of seven races for the teams and drivers to bring an end to the championship’s Gen3 era.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is quite simply known as the greatest race in motorsport. It sees drivers and teams race around the Circuit de la Sarthe non-stop for 24 hours. At the other end of the motor racing spectrum is Formula E, a championship consisting of fast-paced 45-minute races. As much as both events are chalk and cheese, they share a special relationship, with several Formula E drivers, past and present, taking to the 24 Hours of Le Mans every year.

Formula E will return to a much-loved venue in order to kick off its pivotal pre-season testing for the upcoming Season 13, the first season which see the new fourth generation of Formula E cars (Gen4) take to the track. Drivers and teams will undergo a lengthy testing regime in the lead up to the season, in five days of on-track running between 16 and 20 November, 2026, helping them get up to speed with the new generation of Formula E cars.

An exciting Monaco E-Prix weekend made for plenty of on-track action, with several drivers having weekends to forget amidst a sea of firsts. While the championship picture has changed significantly after two races in the Principality, DIVEBOMB looks into the drivers who gained the most and lost out big time on the streets of Monaco.

The grid of 20 Gen3 Evo cars provided non-stop action across the narrow harbour-front streets. Following an unforgettable weekend along the French Riviera, here are five major takeaways from the Monaco E-Prix.

Formula E’s Monaco E-Prix double-header witnessed an astounding 382 overtakes during the weekend, with Nyck de Vries and Oliver Rowland taking their first victories of Season 12 on the streets of the principality. However, the all-electric championship’s annual visit to the principality also brought about plenty of chaos, with several drivers left miffed after having their races ruined.

Nissan's Oliver Rowland took his second victory around the streets of Monaco, and his first of Season 12, as he delivered a knockout blow in his quest to claim a second Formula E title. The Briton, who had started eighth on the road, managed to make up valuable ground using his six-minute attack mode activation late in the race, claiming the race lead from Mahindra's Edoardo Mortara, and remaining untroubled.

For the second race in a row, Dan Ticktum has secured pole position. The Briton beat António Félix da Costa to secure the top spot for the second race of the Formula E Monaco double header.

Ahead of Round 9 Dan Ticktum claimed his maiden pole position of Season 12, beating Nyck de Vries in the final. But it was the Mahindra driver who was dominant in Monaco, winning his first victory since Season 8.

Cupra Kiro's Dan Ticktum took his first pole position of Season 12 in yet another enthralling Formula E qualifying session around the streets of Monaco. Despite making contact with the wall multiple times on his duels laps, Ticktum held on from Mahindra's Nyck de Vries, who couldn't convert free practice pace into pole, and netted his second front row start of the season.

During the Berlin E-Prix, Lola Yamaha ABT’s Zane Maloney seemed to find an almost perfect formula. The Barbadian driver set a career-best qualifying position of seventh on Saturday and then proceeded to best it with a sixth place on Sunday. Whilst the results are not reflective of Maloney’s driver, with him failing to score points in either race, the 22-year-old led the race and was able to fight at the front.
