Powell started racing cars in 2007, competing in the Ginetta Junior Championship with Tockwith Motorsport. She transitioned to single-seaters in 2009 and raced in the Formula Renault UK series with Manor Racing. 2010 saw Powell participate in Formula Renault BARC, in which she clinched the title and became the first female driver to win any Formula Renault championship.

From 2011 until 2022, Powell competed across a range of series, from British Formula 3 to GP3, and Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy to W Series. In these twelve years, Powell won the 2014 Asian Formula Renault Series- International Class,  took second in three championships (2011 MRF Formula 1600 Delhi, 2013 MSV F3 Cup- Class A and 2021 W Series) and placed third in two series (2019 W Series and 2022 W Series)

The all-female test isn’t Powell’s first appearance in Formula E machinery. She was announced as a test driver for Envision Virgin Racing during Season 6 in 2019-20, even testing the Envision Formula E car for the first time in 2020 during the rookie test in Marrakesh.

Since Season 7 (2020- 2021), Powell has held the role of Envision Racing’s Simulator and Development driver.

Following the announcement, Powell said:

“I’m really looking forward to driving the Gen3 Evo again with Envision Racing, this time getting double the track time available compared to last year. I’ll be doing all that I can to provide the team with useful data and feedback to assist them going into the new season.”

Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO, Envision Racing, said:

“It’s great to have Alice back out in our car for the second official all-women’s test. She has been a brilliant asset to our team for a number of years now, supporting on the simulator as well as during selected tests. We are confident that she will contribute valuable data for us to review ahead of the first race of Season 12.”
