For the best part of Formula E’s season break, Ticktum’s future lay between a seat with the now-sophomore Cupra Kiro outfit, or a promotion to race for the works Porsche team alongside Pascal Wehrlein.

However, the situation cleared itself up when Cupra Kiro stated their intentions to hold on to Ticktum’s talents, while Porsche then chose Andretti’s Nico Müller to make the step up to partner the Season 10 champion.

Ticktum has raced in Formula E for four seasons, and made his debut during the 2021- 2022 season, in which he partnered Oliver Turvey at NIO333 FE Team and scored a singular point at the second Rome E-Prix race.

Season 9 in 2023 saw the introduction of the Gen3 era cars, and Ticktum’s continuation with NIO saw him partner fellow F2 graduate Sérgio Sette Câmara. He scored a commendable 28 points and claimed 17th in the driver standings.

For Season 10, Ticktum remained with NIO, but the team underwent a rebranding, becoming the ERT Formula E team. This would go-on to be one of Ticktum’s most difficult campaigns as he scored only one points finish — fourth at Misano.

2024- 2025 saw a new teammate for Ticktum, Germany’s David Beckmann. Season 11 would be Ticktum’s best in Formula E. After topping free practice in Monaco, the London-native took a podium in the following event in Tokyo, before claiming his maiden victory in Jakarta.

Ticktum would also go on to claim pole at his home event in London, although he started the race from sixth on the road after a penalty had been applied. All in all, he managed a haul of 85 points, finishing 11th in the final drivers’ standings.

In a statement following the announcement, Ticktum said:

“I am back. And I’m happy to be back. Season 11 was far more positive than any season before it.”

He later added that the team achieved their goal “halfway through the season” and claimed:

“I think that if we hit the ground running, we have a car that can be good enough to get more wins.”

He went on to share his personal goal for Season 12:

“My personal goal is a top five finish in the championship, but overall, I want to really enjoy the environment in the team. I love all of the people in this team, and I’m really looking forward to this season.”

Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer of Cupra Kiro, claimed that;

”Continuing our relationship with Dan for Season 12 was the easiest decision we’ve had to make as a team. One of Formula E’s most gifted drivers.” Before stating that: “He has the makings of a World Champion”

Once again, Cupra Kiro become the final team to announce their driver line-up, with Ticktum’s teammate yet to be confirmed, as the American team evaluates its options ahead of the final campaign of the Gen3 era in 2026.

Formula E’s Season 12 testing will take place from 27-30 October at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, ahead of the opening round of the season in São Paulo on December 6.
