Isack Hadjar set to miss Spanish Grand Prix, Lawson steps in again

Isack Hadjar is set to miss his third Grand Prix in a row following a wrist injury. Liam Lawson will step into the RB22 again for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.

During the Formula One Summer Break, Hadjar sustained a hairline fracture in a bone in his wrist when doing a boxing workout. As a result, he has missed each Grand Prix following the return after summer, including the Dutch, Italian and now Spanish Grands Prix.

In a statement posted on social media, Red Bull Racing announced: "After racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week's Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.

"The decision has been taken as Isack's recovery continues to progress positively. While he is not ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.

"Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon."

Lawson will be set to return to the seat of the Red Bull for the third race in a row, having impressed in Zandvoort during qualifying and the race, picking up six points for the team after starting in eighth.

This past weekend in Monza, Lawson didn't have the most successful weekend, being eliminated in Q2, partially due to being impeded by Oscar Piastri. After a difficult race, he finished 14th.

Yuki Tsunoda has been filling in for Lawson at Racing Bulls and will step in to race for the team again this weekend as their reserve driver.

It is likely that Hadjar will return to Red Bull in the coming races, with the race following Madrid being in Azerbaijan in two weeks time. Considering his recovery is going well, the Frenchman should be back in no time to continue his 2026 F1 campaign.
