Isack Hadjar to remain with Red Bull for 2027 F1 season
Isack Hadjar will continue to race for Oracle Red Bull Racing in the 2027 Formula One season, with the team confirming an extension to his contract ahead of his return at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The Frenchman will continue alongside Max Verstappen for a second season at Red Bull, keeping the team’s driver line-up unchanged for 2027.
Hadjar joined Red Bull’s senior team at the beginning of the 2026 season after one year racing for Racing Bulls, following his progression through the Red Bull Junior Team and Formula 3 and Formula 2.
His promotion came after a strong rookie campaign in Formula One in 2025, where he secured his maiden podium at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Hadjar rewarded with contract extension
Despite missing the last three Grands Prix with a wrist injury, Hadjar has impressed during his first season alongside Verstappen.
The 21-year-old secured a second Formula One podium at the Monaco Grand Prix and has established himself as a consistent points scorer during his first campaign with Red Bull.
Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies praised Hadjar’s development since his promotion to the senior team.
“We’re very excited to continue our journey with Isack,” Mekies said.
“Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision.”
Mekies also highlighted Hadjar’s commitment to working with the team away from the circuit, particularly with his engineers at the Milton Keynes factory.
“From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve,” he added.
“You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat.”
Hadjar set for Red Bull return in Baku
The announcement comes as Hadjar prepares to return to Formula One action at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The Frenchman was forced to miss the Grands Prix in Zandvoort, Monza and Madrid after suffering a wrist injury, with Liam Lawson stepping into the Red Bull seat in his absence.
Hadjar’s return to the cockpit will now mark his first Grand Prix weekend since his injury, with his 2027 future settled before he returns to racing.
Speaking following the announcement, Hadjar expressed his excitement at continuing with the team.
“I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing,” Hadjar said.
“There are so many talented people at the factory, and you’re aware of the privilege of driving for such an incredible team alongside a four-time world champion like Max.”
Hadjar also reflected on his approach since joining Red Bull at the beginning of the season.
“From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the faith they’ve had in me,” he said.
“I’m constantly looking to listen, learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead.”
Red Bull line-up locked in for 2027
Hadjar’s contract extension completes Red Bull Racing’s driver line-up for the 2027 season, with Verstappen already committed to the team through 2030.
The decision also means Hadjar will enter his second full season with Red Bull having established himself in a seat that has undergone several changes in recent seasons.
For now, the Frenchman’s focus turns to his return to racing in Baku, before continuing his first campaign with Red Bull and preparing for a second season alongside Verstappen in 2027.
Hadjar’s contract extension was announced by Red Bull on September 23, ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
