As Jenson Button hangs up his professional racing helmet for one last time, he will be replaced at JOTA Cadillac by Jack Aitken. Aitken has a plethora of experience in Sportscar racing, and also drove in Formula One during the 2020 season at the Sakhir Grand Prix.

This news comes shortly after the conclusion to the 2025 WEC season, where Cadillac managed to finish third in the Constructors' Championship, behind only Ferrari and Porsche.

Cadillac's best result of the 2025 season came at Interlagos, Brazil, where the team scored an impressive 1-2 finish for the first time. They almost achieved this at the first race of the season in Qatar as well before the No.38 and No.12 cars collided.

Aitken, on the other hand, has spent the last few seasons racing in the IMSA Championship in the United States, with the Whelen Cadillac team. The No.31 Whelen Cadillac squad achieved two victories from nine races in 2025, and Aitken ended up in sixth place in the Drivers' Standings.

Aitken will simultaneously drive in both the WEC and IMSA championships for Cadillac next season.

The two victories in IMSA for the No.31 Whelen Cadillac squad came at the final two races of the 2025 campaign, so Aitken appears to already be in good stead ahead of next season.

The British driver has also competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Cadillac since 2023, achieving a best result of 10th in the Hypercar class.

Aitken took to social media to announce the news, saying: "I hid it well, but I'm so excited it Hertz. Your newest Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA driver for the 2026 World Endurance Championship campaign, at your service!"

The 2026 WEC season appears to be taking shape, as new driver line-ups are announced and new manufacturers are set to join, like Genesis. Stay right here at DIVEBOMB Motorsport for all the latest motorsport news.
