García participated in the first-ever all-female test in 2024, but with TAG Heuer Porsche, placing eighth in the ladder. She was also a participant in the Berlin Rookie Test, with the ERT Formula E team back in Season 10, and already has a wealth of knowledge about how Formula E cars differ from conventional race cars.

Following up her championship-winning F1 Academy campaign, García participated in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), while simultaneously competing in the Ligier European Series. The Spanish racer drove for Iron Dames in both series, who have supported her since she claimed the F1 Academy title in 2023.

García currently competes in the GT3 category of the Le Mans Cup with the Iron Dames team. Alongside this campaign, she races in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance (GTWCE) Cup for UNX Racing.

In a statement following the announcement, García said, “It’s great to have the chance to test again in Formula E. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at Lola Yamaha ABT and understanding their approach.”

The Motorsport Director at Lola Cars, Mark Preston, said: "We are delighted to welcome Marta to the team,” before reinforcing the mission of the Formula E all-women’s test: “The session provides an excellent platform for women in motorsport, and we’re excited to see what she can achieve with the team in Valencia.”

Frederic Espinos, Lola Yamaha ABT Team Director, responded: “Marta is one of the most talented female drivers today, who has proven her ability in numerous racing series, so we’re very excited to have her with us. The women’s test is a great opportunity for Marta to gain experience in electric racing, while also providing feedback to help the team prepare for the upcoming season.”

She becomes the fifth woman announced, alongside Bustamante (Cupra Kiro), Pulling (Nissan) and the duo of Lindsay Brewer and Jess Edgar (DS Penske).

Formula E's pre-season testing for Season 12 is set to commence on Monday, 27 October, for a period of four days until Thursday, 30 October, with the all-female Formula E test taking place on Friday, 31 October, 2025.
