The Long-Awaited news of Pedro Acosta joining the Premier Class has finally broken, Pedro Acosta will join the Tech3 GASGAS KTM Team in 2024, replacing Pol Espargaro who will now be behind the pit wall.
Pedro Acosta has been a hot topic amongst MotoGP fans and pundits, many believing that he is the next Marc Marquez or next Valentino Rossi, but certainly an incredible talent that is sure to challenge the likes of Marquez, Bagnaia, Martin and Bezzecchi in the near future.
Acosta won the 2020 Red Bull Rookies Cup, in just his second year racing in that category. He had finished 2nd in the 2019 Red Bull Rookies Cup, which was his first season racing in that category, it was an impressive start to a future talent's career. Acosta would immediately hit the ground running when he graduated to Moto3 in 2021, Winning the Championship in his rookie season and making a lot of progress. It was during the 2021 season, that fans sat forward from their screens and really took notice of a rider that could be something great.

He would graduate straight into Moto2 for 2022, looking to continue an impressive record of spending no more than 2 seasons in one series. Acosta would spend 2022 battling away with the other serious contenders to get into MotoGP, like Jake Dixon, Tony Arbolino and Alonso Lopez. Earning three Grand Prix victories and 5 podiums, it was a slightly more quiet year for Acosta, but still an extremely important one, and still an impressive season.
However, in 2023 Acosta would surprise everyone in the MotoGP paddock, by leading the championship by 50 points at this current stage, with just 6 races remaining - it looks as though Acosta has wrapped up the Moto2 World Championship already. Six Victories in this season, 11 Podiums and just Six races remaining, Acosta has been nothing short of impressive in 2023.
Evidently, Pedro Acosta has impressed many MotoGP teams, but he was always going to stay with KTM, who he has been with in his entire career so far. Tech3 GASGAS KTM will be Acosta's team for the 2024 MotoGP Season, but it surely won't be too long before we see him in the familiar Red Bull KTM colours if he continues to stun the MotoGP paddock as he has done in this last few years.
He will be replacing Pol Espargaro, a familiar face on the MotoGP grid and one that will be difficult to wave goodbye to. Pol Espargaro has had 8 podiums in the Premier Class of MotoGP, and even more successes in the Moto3 and Moto2 categories. Pol Espargaro will be on the other side of the pit wall it appears, continuing to assist KTM. Perhaps it won't be a permanent goodbye, as we have seen multiple riders make their return in recent times, such as Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso, Stefan Bradl and many more.
But what do you make of Acosta's 2024 MotoGP move? let us know in the comments below!
