Max Verstappen managed to convert his pole position into his fourth 2025 win at the United States Grand Prix, picking up another 25 points on top of the eight he gained on Saturday following his Sprint victory.

This has cut down the points gap to the championship leader, Oscar Piastri, to just 40. Verstappen is now only 26 points behind Lando Norris who is currently runner-up in the title race.

Following the race at Circuit of the Americas, Verstappen spoke highly of his weekend. He said: "It was an unbelievable weekend for us. I knew the race would not be super straightforward.

"If you look at the whole race, the pace between myself and Lando was really close.

"In that first stint we made a difference, I could eek out a bit of a gap and that was the gap until the end.

"It wasn't easy to manage the tyres in both of the stints. We kept it in the lead and I'm incredibly proud of everyone to deliver a weekend like this."

When asked about his championship chances, he said: "Yeah for sure, the chance is there. We just need to try and deliver these weekends until the end.

"We will try whatever we can. It's exciting and I'm very excited until the end."

Despite his struggles earlier in the season, his dominance in Austin could suggest that Red Bull have found their form again at a vital moment in the championship.

The renewed confidence from the Dutchman signals that his championship fight is far from over. Verstappen has proven experience of handling high-pressure situations which could be crucial in these final five rounds of the season.

Next up is the Mexican Grand Prix, a race which Verstappen has had plenty of success at before. If he carries this momentum forward to next weekend, the championship battle could go right down to the wire.
