"A little bit frustrating": Lindblad and Lawson reflect on a double-points day for Racing Bulls

Racing Bulls left the Hungaroring with both cars in the points, a result that pushed the team up to fifth in the constructors' standings heading into the summer break. For Liam Lawson, it capped a recovery drive worth smiling about. For Arvid Lindblad, the bigger picture was worth celebrating even if his own afternoon left him wanting more.

Lindblad had to fight for his point, and the emotion afterward was mixed. "I'm not really sure. I mean, obviously it's a good day for the team. I'm very happy for them," he said. "They've given us a good car all weekend. The pit stops again were really good. Double points, P5 in the championship, so a good way to go into the summer break."

His own race was a different story. "I'm not the happiest in my race," he admitted. Asked to reflect on both the result and the season so far, six races into scoring points as a rookie, Lindblad struck a balanced tone. "It's a nice start, and I think overall it has been a very strong first half of the year," he said. "I've had a lot of good moments where I've shown what I can do. Yesterday was another example of that."

He wasn't ready to call it a complete picture, though. "There's no doubts in my mind about my good moments, you know, I've shown good things," he said. "But I'm very aware there's things I can do better. I'm not happy with it. It's just a little bit frustrating."

Lawson's day started from a much worse position but ended with real satisfaction. "Yeah, very happy," he said. "I was honestly, I just did a terrible job in quali and put ourselves in a bad position, especially when we had a very fast car. I knew it'd be good today."

The recovery came down to the opening exchanges. "I focused on the start and the first lap, and we were able to move forward and have a good race," he said. That included a late scrap with his own teammate for position, the two Racing Bulls cars going wheel to wheel before Lawson came out ahead. "Heck of a battle with your teammate there at the end, and you managed to get a good haul of points," it was put to him. "Yeah, it's great," he said. "To have two cars in the points is really positive for us. Very, very happy."

Between Lindblad's honest self-assessment and Lawson's recovery from a rough Saturday, Racing Bulls head into the break with the kind of result every midfield team wants: two cars scoring, and two drivers with something to build on.
