Free practice one concluded at the Hungaroring, with drivers’ championship leader Nikita Bedrin on top by only 0.043s.
The Italian driver’s fastest time of the session, a 1:36.039, is the quickest time ever recorded in GB3 at the Hungaroring in the 2 years the championship has been racing at the venue. That lap time that established Bedrin as FP1’s fastest was his penultimate lap, throughout the session it was clear that for all drivers the pace was gradually getting quicker throughout.
2024 F4 British champion Daegen Fairclough was very close behind, 0.043s to be exact. The British driver almost equalled Bedrin on his ninth lap (out of 14), again showing the pattern observed throughout the 30-minute session of the later in the session, the faster the laptime.
Elsewhere in the GB3 grid

Hometown hero Martin Molnar, the driver currently fourth in the drivers’ championship, finished the session just four tenths off Bedrin - with a one tenth interval to Peter Bouzinelos ahead.
Molnar has had high hopes going into his home race, so this vindication from FP1 will be what the Hungarian is aiming to replicate in qualifying and the three races.
Additionally, GB3 debutant Jacob Micallef impressed on his first race weekend. With his fastest time set on the 13th and final lap, the Maltese driver was around five-and-a-half tenths from teammate Fairclough - which is very impressive in his first free practice session.
This was also a strong session for Aurelia Nobels, finishing this session in 15th (almost level on pace with fellow Brazillian driver Ricardo Baptista) marks a strong improvement going into the third round of this season.
