Cassidy charges from P20 to Victory in Berlin Thriller for Jaguar TCS Racing

As Team Principal James Barclay pointed out, you can never rule out a driver like Nick Cassidy. What he achieved on Sunday was one of his best performances in Formula E yet. Starting from P20, Cassidy and his team displayed an exceptional masterclass in adaptability and focus, securing him a well-deserved victory.

Nick Cassidy delivered one of the most impressive performances of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season, storming from 20th on the grid to claim victory in Round 14 of the Berlin E-Prix. The New Zealander’s masterful drive in challenging conditions secured his ninth career Formula E win and his second of the season, moving him up to fourth in the Drivers' standings.

In a race defined by energy management and strategic precision, Cassidy timed his Attack Mode deployments perfectly, launching a late charge with activations on laps 31 and 35 to clinch not only the fastest lap but also his third win in Berlin. His performance also marked his fourth victory and eleventh podium with Jaguar TCS Racing not long before Team Principal James Barclay will leave the team at the end of the current season.

"For my guys, they called that perfectly, we had a really good car in the race, we kind of knew we screwed up in qualifying and I was a bit upset about that, but the car in the race was fantastic, and that was awesome. Three wins here now, this place didn’t used to be kind to me and now it’s been an amazing venue for me across the years, so it’s really cool to win the last three years here."

Team-mate Mitch Evans also impressed, climbing from ninth to finish fifth. He fought for a podium throughout the race but narrowly missed out by just over two seconds. Both Jaguar drivers had been hampered in qualifying by a wet setup following a rain-soaked FP3 session, which saw them miss out on the Duels. However, the pair capitalized on improved track conditions during the race and made significant progress through the field, especially after two safety car interventions.

Jaguar TCS Racing leaves Berlin with an outstanding 71 points from the double-header weekend, including two victories, a fastest lap, and a pole position from Evans in Round 13. The team now sits fourth in the Teams’ Championship, just six points behind the top three, while Jaguar maintains third in the Manufacturers’ standings.

Cassidy's dominant recent form – scoring 92 points in the last eight races – continues to fuel Jaguar's championship ambitions heading into the final rounds of the season.

"We’ve been improving all year - it’s no secret that Jaguar are back, the future for the team is very bright. They’re going to keep improving a lot, I think that’s been obvious the last few weekends, and I had a fantastic car.”
