Former Formula One driver Daniil Kvyat will be joining the Super GT grid for 2026 with the JLOC Lamborghini crew.

JLOC (Japan Lamborghini Owners’ Club) have been taking part in Super GT since 1994 and achieved their maiden championship win in 2024 in GT300. They have also won the inaugural Asian Le Mans title in the GT1 class.

They struggled in the 2025 Super GT season with only one podium under their belt. Team boss Isao Noritake believes the Balance of Performance (BoP) was a major issue for the team last year, claiming it cost the team up to 12 km/h in the straights.

The team were undecided between switching to the new Lamborghini GT3 challenger, the Temerario, or sticking with the Huracán, and ultimately decided on the latter. It will be the Huracán’s final year in competition in a major series, with the Temerario set to compete in a handful of series before taking over completely.

Kvyat has raced in F1 for six seasons between 2014 and 2020 and has 3 podiums to his name. After his F1 career came to an end, he made a switch to sportscar racing, driving for PREMA in the World Endurance Championship's LMP2 class for a year before jumping ship to Lamborghini’s SC63 Hypercar program for 2024 and then to their GTP campaign in IMSA SportsCar Championship for 2025.

Now that the Hypercar campaign is on hold, the Russian will continue as a factory driver for Lamborghini with JLOC in Super GT. Despite driving prototypes for the past three years, this will be his first rodeo in a GT3 car. Although unconfirmed as of now, he is expected to have other commitments with Lamborghini this year and his post on Instagram announcing the Super GT switch features a picture of him with the Temerario.
