Pierre Gasly has urged Yuki Tsunoda to block out the noise and focus on self-improvement as the young Japanese driver battles mounting pressure in his new Red Bull seat. Drawing on his own experience within the Red Bull programme, Gasly offered advice, whilst conceding his Alpine team faces a "difficult" end to the current Formula One season.
Tsunoda is facing intense scrutiny in his new Red Bull seat. Gasly, who went through a similar ordeal in 2019 before being demoted, advised his former teammate to focus on self-improvement and block out external pressures.
When asked what advice he has for Tsunoda, Gasly says: "Cutting the noise"
He adds: "You have to find a way to not let it get to your head, to wake up every day and think ‘how can I improve what I am doing’. You have to find a way to show your skills".
Gasly was in a comparable position years ago but had the opportunity to drop back to the junior team, then called Toro Rosso and now known as Racing Bulls. It is widely believed that Tsunoda is not expected to be given a similar chance to rebuild his confidence away from the spotlight.

Whilst Gasly can reflect on past pressures with experience, his present is focused on navigating a challenging period with a struggling Alpine team. The French outfit has been unable to consistently fight for points this season, a reality the driver acknowledged.
Speaking on Alpine's current form, Gasly said: "It hasn’t been as good as we would have liked and the remaining part of the year is going to be difficult. We are consistently struggling to make our way through. We know it is not an easy task but we will give it our best".
The team’s performance deficit means they often need chaotic races or unusual circumstances to score points. Gasly admitted that he is hoping for external factors like the weather to play a part in the upcoming Grands Prix.
He said: "We know we are not in a position to be fighting for the top 10, we need other factors to come into play to take any chances. I won’t mind some rain!".
