A day before it is set to make it's Le Mans debut in the Hypercar class, Genesis Magma Racing has taken the covers off it's GT3 concept car, and a road-going version called the Magma GT.

Both cars are currently just concepts, so the GT3 will not be homologated and cannot be raced. However, the car is built to current GT3 specifications and the team say that ''as an independent study, it explores how race-driven architecture, aerodynamics and engineering principles could inform future Genesis performance vehicles, rather than being derived from an existing road-going model."

However they also added that the car, developed in conjunction with Hyundai Motorsport, "remains under exploration, with architecture, components and potential development pathways yet to be defined."

The car does not bring with it any official announcements of racing programs, however it does bring the fact that Genesis are indeed exploring pathways into motorsport outside of their GMR-001 Hypercar - a promising sign from a brand so new to the sport.

Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, said, “The Magma GT Concept and Magma GT3 Concept represent two distinct yet connected expressions of Genesis performance.

"The Magma GT Concept embodies our vision of luxury and athleticism on the road, while the Magma GT3 Concept translates that philosophy into the race environment, where every element is driven by performance, efficiency and purpose. Together, they demonstrate how Genesis is exploring the full spectrum of high performance — from refined grand touring to uncompromising motorsport.”

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, added, “Genesis has grown faster than any other luxury automotive brand, and we’re thrilled to be competing in the world’s toughest endurance race where we’ll be able to validate our performance under pressure. We’re humble, but we’re hungry, and we know there is hard work ahead.

"We’re bringing lessons from the track to our Magma performance vehicles and in how we run the business. In a 24-hour race where anything can happen, the team needs to be seamless in how we support each other and find creative solutions to win. It’s a perfect analogy for how we’re managing uncertainty and focused on delivering exceptional vehicles, technology and service for our customers.”
