Heinrich opts to race IMSA 6 Hours of the Glen instead of Spa 24, Makowiecki fills in

Porsche have announced that Laurin Heinrich will compete the IMSA 6 Hours of the Glen in the No.5 JDC-Miller Porsche instead of the No.22 Schumacher CLRT Porsche in the 24 Hours of Spa, as originally planned.

Frederick Makowiecki has been confirmed to take the place of Heinrich in Spa, racing alongside Ayhanchan Guven and Matt Campbell on June 25-28.

Heinrich was originally listed in the Porsche GT3 in Spa when he was only expected to drive the No.7 Porsche Penske entry in Daytona, Sebring and the season finale in Road Atlanta in IMSA. However, when he took on a full-season drive with JDC-Miller in the No.5, Porsche began discussing the clash between Watkins Glen and Spa.

Now as Heinrich makes a championship push in IMSA, the German marque has decided to relive the 24-year-old of his duties in the Ardennes.

He will compete the 6 hour event in New York alongside Tijmen van der Helm - full season driver alongside Heinrich and Nico Pino - Endurance Cup driver.

The situation of swapping between two cars for the year has left the young German in a position where he stands alone in second place in the standings, 144 points behind Jack Aitken. He did lead the standings heading into the Detroit round with JDC, but incident responsibility for Heinrich left them 11th with multiple penalties.

He has however won the Daytona and Sebring rounds with Penske and Laguna Seca with JDC.

Both races take place on the same weekend, June 25-28.
