Williams was a title winning powerhouse back in the 1990s and have recently been down at the back of the grid and not scoring points in the 2019 and 2020 season. The team was sold by the Williams family to Dorilton capital where they aim to return to the front. But how will they do that?
Drivers
Having recently lost its star driver George Russell to Mercedes, Jost Capito, the Williams team principal brought in Alex Albon from the Red Bull Academy. Albon has already scored 3 points for the team in a car that isn't as competitive as they would hope. However, the other driver Nicholas Latifi has had very poor performances in the past couple of years and has not been able to deliver what a team aiming for the front would want. But who would replace Latifi? Having recently completed in FP1(first Friday practice session) at the Spanish Grand Prix, Nyck de Vries would be a perfect driver to line up alongside Albon. The team may also want to look at the current Formula 2 season and possibly pick up Theo Pourchaire from the Sauber Academy as he is currently having a good season being second in the standings after the Spanish round.
Car
It's no secret that Williams don't have a competitive car and havent for quite a while, the team have not had stability in the design and development role for a while with losing Patrick Head for the final time. Once they get a design team together and stable they should be able to develop a car that will finally be able to show the drivers’ efforts in the race and qualifying instead of being at the bottom no matter what.
The Team
Behind the scenes a massive team of 700+ people work as hard as possible to build pace and develop the car and are not being rewarded as much as they should be. The mechanics work long hours building and repairing the cars, the design team aim to better the car with the hopes that one day it will reach the front again.
