The testing session

In anticipation of Martín’s return to the championship, the Spaniard had the opportunity to test the Aprilia RS-GP25 at Misano, something that was not possible before his return in Qatar.

The “Martínator” has been recovering from numerous rib fractures for nearly three months, yet he was able to complete 64 laps without any issues.

Following the test, Martín appeared positive that his return would be possible at Brno, stating: “Really looking forward to come back really soon because the feeling today was great. [...] The plan is to come back in Brno, so I hope everything goes well during this week. I can train in normal circumstances, and I hope to see you all in Brno.”

Before his much-awaited comeback, Martín will have to pass a medical check at the Brno circuit on Thursday, 17th July.

What we can expect from Martín’s comeback

Before Martín’s first attempt at a racing return in Qatar, he did not have time to familiarize himself with the bike, yet he managed to have a decent run in the sprint race.

While the race on Sunday represented another setback for the champion, it is clear that following the Misano test, he now feels more comfortable with his chances in Brno.

With limited time on the new Aprilia bike, it is difficult to predict just how the Spaniard will perform upon his return. However, based on his statements before Qatar, simply finishing the race and gaining some more experience with the Aprilia RS-GP25 will be considered a great success.

Regardless of any potential result during the race, Martín’s ability to make such a quick recovery following a horrible injury is beyond impressive. While this season did not go his way, in 2026, “Martínator” might have the opportunity to fight for the title once again.
