Following the extensions of fellow American rounds in Miami and Austin last year, Las Vegas is the latest race held in the United States to secure an extension, this one set till at least 2037.

This deal cements Formula One’s future in Las Vegas for the long-term future, in the wake of a growing American audience for the sport.

Celebrating the extension, Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, said: “We are thrilled that F1 will continue racing in Las Vegas for many years to come. Since its debut in 2023, the event has been extraordinary, rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for great racing, world-class entertainment, global business leaders, A-list celebrities and influencers.

“It has delivered a strong and lasting impact on the local economy and community. We always believed that Las Vegas would become a cornerstone of our presence in the United States, and this extension, together with the success of recent years, reinforces our long-term commitment to this important market."

The Las Vegas Grand Prix, first introduced in its current iteration in 2023, is noted for being embedded into the very heart of the city. The Las Vegas Strip Circuit takes drivers right past famed landmarks, including the Las Vegas Sphere, The Venetian hotel and the Bellagio fountains.

Impressively, the circuit also incorporates the iconic Las Vegas Strip as a 1.9 km flat-out section, with two straights and a sweeping left turn past The Venetian.

This high-speed section then leads into a series of three twisty corners, noted as the site of Charles Leclerc’s stunning last-lap lunge on Sergio Pérez for second in 2023.

With 17 corners and plenty of opportunities to overtake, the track has offered thrilling racing action in the past two seasons, and is set to continue hosting F1 for at least a decade with this extension.

The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix had 77 overtakes, while its calendar debut in 2023 boasted a record 82 overtakes, the most of any circuit on its debut and the most of any dry race that season.

F1 support series F1 Academy also made its debut around The Strip last year, where Doriane Pin was crowned the Drivers' Champion after a fierce title battle fought through the blinding lights of Las Vegas.

Along with the pure adrenaline of late-night racing, off track, the venue is known for its vibrant atmosphere and unique energy, complete with neon lights and immersive entertainment.

The round has been hailed as a sensory delight for fans and critically, has received the seal of approval from teams and drivers alike who never fail to celebrate the occasion with colourful liveries and custom helmet designs.

With an electric future ahead, the F1 community can look forward to more spectacular racing and show-stopping action in Las Vegas for many years to come.
