Maximilian Günther joins Envision Racing for Formula E Season 13

Envision Racing have announced that seven-time race winner Maximilian Günther will be joining them for Formula E Season 13 and the start of the GEN4 era. The announcement comes after Envision announced that both of their Season 12 drivers would be leaving.
Throughout his career, Günther has raced for Dragon, where he also served as test and reserve driver, BMW i Andretti Motorsport during Seasons 6 and 7. For Season 8, he moved to Nissan e.dams before switching to Maserati MSG Racing for Season 9 and Season 10.
Günther most recently raced for DS Penske in Seasons 11 and 12. During his time with the team, he took two victories but his campaign was marred by difficulties. The German driver’s most recent victory was in Season 11 at the Shanghai E-Prix.
Following the announcement, Günther said:
“I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together. The team has a very successful history in Formula E and exceptional quality throughout the organization.”
“We are thrilled to announce Max as our newest driver at Paysafe Envision Formula E Team,” said Sylvain Filippi, Envision’s managing director. “Season 13 is going to be an important year for all teams; learning the GEN4 car as well as a new sporting format, which is going to put an even bigger focus on outright pace and speed.
“Max has proven how capable he is at delivering qualifying laps when it matters, as well as podium finishes and race wins. We’re incredibly excited to start working with him and hit the ground running at preseason testing in November.”

“Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top,” said Guenther. I truly believe we have all the ingredients to build something really special together.
“What convinced me about the project was the great environment, the high ambition of the team, the mindset and, of course, the excellent technical package together with Jaguar. I’m proud to become part of the team and have a fantastic feeling about our future.”
