With Honda’s factory team announcing its rider line-up for 2027, attention has now turned to LCR Honda, which will also have a new look heading into the next season.

Johann Zarco will remain with the satellite team, while David Alonso will make the step up to MotoGP alongside the Frenchman. Diogo Moreira, meanwhile, will leave LCR to join Honda’s factory squad as the manufacturer prepares for a new era under the 2027 technical regulations.

Johann Zarco to stay

Johann Zarco will remain with LCR Honda for the 2027 season after signing a two-year contract extension in September 2025. The Frenchman became the first rider to commit to a deal extending into MotoGP’s new technical era, which begins next season.

Zarco joined Honda at the end of 2023 and has since become an important part of the manufacturer’s efforts to return to the front of the grid. His victory at the French Grand Prix in 2025, in front of his home crowd at Le Mans, was a major highlight of his time with the Japanese manufacturer.

The experienced rider’s technical feedback and consistency have also made him a valuable asset as Honda works towards the new regulations. With the 2027 season bringing significant changes to the premier class, his experience will be important for LCR as the team looks to remain competitive.

Zarco will now lead the team into the new era, bringing valuable experience as his new teammate prepares for their first season in the premier class.

David Alonso to join

David Alonso will join LCR Honda in 2027, making the step up to MotoGP after competing in the smaller classes of the World Championship.

The Colombian made his mark in Moto3, winning the World Championship in 2024 after an outstanding season. He moved up to Moto2 in 2025, continuing his development as he worked towards a future in the premier class.

Honda announced a multi-year agreement with Alonso in July 2026, confirming its commitment to the young rider. His move to LCR will now give him the opportunity to gain experience in MotoGP while benefiting from Honda’s support.

Alonso’s promotion represents another major step in his career as he prepares to take on the challenge of racing against some of the biggest names in motorcycle racing. His performances in the smaller classes have established him as one of the sport’s most exciting young talents, and the move to MotoGP will be an important test of his development.

Partnering the experienced Zarco should give Alonso an opportunity to learn from a rider who has spent several seasons competing at the highest level.

Diogo Moreira to leave

Diogo Moreira will leave LCR Honda at the end of the 2026 season to join Honda’s factory team for 2027.

Moreira arrived in MotoGP for the 2026 campaign after winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2025. His promotion to the premier class marked a significant moment for Brazilian motorcycle racing, with the young rider looking to establish himself against a highly competitive field.

His performances during his rookie season have helped secure a move to Honda’s factory operation. Joining Honda HRC will give Moreira the opportunity to work directly within the manufacturer’s main team as it prepares for the new technical regulations.

The move represents another important step in Moreira’s career, placing him in a position to contribute to Honda’s development during a period of significant change for MotoGP.

With Moreira moving to the factory team, LCR will enter 2027 with a new rider pairing of Zarco and Alonso. The combination of experience and youth will give the satellite squad a fresh look as Honda prepares for the next era of the premier class.
