The No.46 Team WRT BMW of Dan Harper is currently leading the race by about a second and a half after fending off relentless attacks for the lead from the No.48 Mann Filter Mercedes. The battle for the lead is going strong with the No.51 Ferrari in third, less than two seconds behind the BMW.
The No.998 BMW inherited the lead in Gold after the No.58 McLaren retired following an incident at the Bus Stop. Leading in silver is the No.65 Ford Mustang, and the No.991 BMW is leading in bronze.
As it happened
Just ahead of the halfway mark, the No.700 ComToYou Aston Martin retired following a crash at Blanchimont in the hands of Sarah Bovy, bringing out the Full Course Yellow and the safety car.
In the final hours of the night, the No.58 Garage 59 McLaren made contact with a Porsche at the Bus Stop, decimating the front bodywork of the front running McLaren. This incident took the McLaren effectively out of the race. The papaya car is still in the garage, being worked on.
Up front, the No.46 Team WRT BMW has been leading for a while now, but the No.48 Mann Filter Mercedes has been a constant presence in their rear view mirrors.
The No.50 Ferrari was running third, but the No.51 AF Corse Ferrari was as fast as ever in the hands of Alessio Rovera, and a swap for position later, the No.51 quickly closed the gap to the top two and is currently running strong in the battle for first.
It has been a different story for the No.50; it has been unable to keep up with the pace of its fellow Ferrari and has dropped down to fifth behind the No.80 Lionspeed Porsche.
