4 Hours of Abu Dhabi qualifying: As it happened

GT

The GT cars were the first to kick off the final qualifying session of the season at 10:10. Yuan Bo in the No.87 Origine Motorsport was the first to lead the queue into the pit lane exit, followed by the No.59 United Autosports behind.

Race control cleared the incident involving the No.15 Kessel Racing and the No.9 GetSpeed over unsafe release, with no investigation necessary.

Bo was the first to put his name on the timing board with 1:58.096. Steve Jans in the No.9 car went second fastest, followed by Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi in the No.37 QMMF by GetSpeed. François Hériau in the No.92 went fourth fastest.

As the drivers got their tyres up to temperature, the time they set became more competitive, and nearly four seconds faster than Bo's first attempt. Giacomo Petrobelli in the No.56 car briefly went fastest before the others car surpassed his lap time.

With six minutes left on the clock, GetSpeed and QMMF by GetSpeed in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo seem to be the cars to beat, as they were the only cars to set a lap time within 1:53 with four minutes left. A minute later, the No.74 Kessel Racing, the championship leader, took third and was not too far from the Mercedes.

The No.37 went fastest with two minutes left, while the No.56 car took third. The No.9 moved to the top with less than 30 seconds to go. The WRT entries locked out the third row.

LMP3

The LMP3 qualifying session began at 10:40. The No.8 Team Virage led the queue as the lights turned green. Remember that eight teams are still within mathematical chance for the title.

During the warm-up lap, the position was switched, with the No.8 car now behind the No.94 High Class Racing. Romain Vozniak in the former, followed Tim Whale in the latter car closely for the slipstream.

Paul Lanchère set the fastest lap in the No.17 CLX Motorsport with 1:53.693, followed by the No.23 23Events Racing and the No.29 Forestier Racing by VPS, albeit their time were a second slower than the Frenchman.

Lanchère then went even faster, with 1:51.704. His rivals were scrambling for pace as the second-place No.23 car was 1.896 seconds slower than his. Four minutes left on the clock, the No.71 23Events Racing improved to second, only 0.708 behind Lanchère. The No.13 Inter Europol Competition went third with 1:52.343.

The No.13 car moved to second with 16 seconds left, but Alex Bukhantsov's time was not enough to topple the No.17 car. His time was bested by the No.8 car, which was only 0.115 seconds slower than Lanchère's time. The No.1 Team Virage car qualified last, four seconds behind the pole-sitter.

LMP2

And this is it, the very last qualifying session of the 2025–26 ALMS. The 15-minute session began at 11:15 with No.4 CrowdStrike Racing by APR entering the track first. Driver George Kurtz knows how important this qualifying session is for the team's championship aspirations.

At 11:19, the race control took note of Alexander Mattschull's driving and reviewed the allegations that the German driver was driving unnecessarily slowly.

No.5 United Autosport's Giorgio Roda went fastest with 1:42.990, followed by Kurtz 0.242 behind and the No.49 High Class Racing around 0.146 behind the American.

At 11:22, the race control waved the red flag after the No.47 Cetilar Racing car spun at the final corner and lost power in the finish line straight. After a few moments, Roberto Lacorte managed to restart the car, but race control prohibited the championship leader from rejoining the session after causing the red flag.

The LMP2 qualifying session resumed at 11:27. During the interview in the garage, Lacorte admitted he had not been able to get the rear tyres up to temperature, and the Italian had nothing more to say.

Roda still led the session with three and a half minutes to go and improved in his subsequent runs. With one and a half minutes to go, John Falb moved to second for the No.20 Algarve Pro Racing (APR).

As the session came to an end, Roda once again took double pole position as the 31-year-old eyes United's first podium, and possibly their first victory of this ALMS season.
