Lewis Hamilton stated that “P3 is the perfect spot” after his best qualifying position so far in 2025. Having qualified P3, Hamilton has achieved his best Mexico City start since 2002.

Starting behind teammate Charles Leclerc and fellow British driver Lando Norris, Hamilton stated in his post-qualifying interview: “[I’m] so happy to be up there in the top three”.

With his previous best start of P4 earlier in the season at Austria, Hamilton’s qualifying success has taken a while to arrive however he attributed the success to key changes made within the team. The seven time world champion has been vocal about pushing for internal changes after his arrival from rivals Mercedes earlier this season.

Having been quick all weekend, there was quiet optimism about what Hamilton could expect to achieve in Saturday’s qualifying. Like teammate Leclerc, Hamilton lacked the final bit of pace compared to pole-sitter Norris. Ultimately, Hamilton's lap to secure P3 was a 1:15.938.

Having still not stood on the podium in a full-length Grand Prix since joining the Scuderia at the start of the 2025 season, a top three finish will be the aim for Hamilton. Looking ahead to Sunday’s Grand Prix, all eyes will be on both Ferrari drivers to see if they can turn their qualifying success into celebrations at the end of the Grand Prix.
