Invicta Racing's Joshua Dürksen and Hitech's Ritomo Miyata have received penalties for their infringements during F2's qualifying session in Barcelona on Friday.

The Paraguayan driver was picked up after speeding under yellow flags, a result of Miyata's incident at the final corner only moments earlier. The Hitech man endured a torrid spin as he entered the corner, veering into the gravel and bringing the session to a halt.

Miyata managed to escape unharmed and unhurt, and was seen wandering around in the pit lane, having sat on the fringes of the top 10 until his incident.

The Japanese driver had set a lap time of 1:25.443, sitting 13th at the time of his incident. However, after the stewards found him to be the 'sole cause for the issuance of a red flag', his best lap time was deleted, and Miyata now starting at the rear of the grid for both the Sprint and the Feature Race this weekend.

With his lap time being outside the 107% minimum requirement to start races, the stewards granted permission to Miyata to start both races from 24th on the grid.

As for Dürksen, he was found to have sped under the yellow flag zone at the final corner, all along to the line, and therefore given a five-place grid drop for the Sprint as well as the Feature Races.

During the hearing, the Invicta man maintained that he was "in control of the situation, given the distance of Car 3 (Miyata) from the barrier."

Invicta also maintained that the reaction time from Turn 14 to the finish line was too short, with Dürksen unable to react and slow down fully to the yellow flags being waved at the corner.

Yet, the stewards took into consideration Dürksen's final sector, which, at 25.6 seconds, was his best all through the session, one that earned him second on the classification behind teammate Rafa Câmara, before handing him the penalty. The stewards added a further two penalty points on Dürksen's licence for the incident, taking his tally to five for the 2026 season.

The penalty moves the Invicta man down from second on the grid to seventh for the Feature Race on Sunday, while it demotes him from ninth to 14th on the Sprint Race grid for Saturday, elevating ART's Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak to reverse-grid pole for the Saturday race.
