Formula 2 graduate Roman Staněk has been announced as a last-minute addition to the Super Formula grid for the 2026 season. He will be piloting a third car run by Kondo Racing. Since the rules state each team can only run two cars, his third one will be run under the Buzz MK Racing name.

Staněk drove in Formula 3 for three seasons from 2020-22, with a fifth-place finish in the 2022 season’s drivers’ standings being his best. He also managed to bag one win and six podiums in that time.

He then switched to F2, where he stayed for another three years; the first two with Trident Racing and the third with the championship-winning outfit Invicta Racing. In his 3 seasons, his best championship result was tenth. He scored two wins and six podiums at that time.

He will join Ukyo Sasahara and Luke Browning in the Kondo Racing garages. Kondo Racing is a team founded and run by Masahiko Kondō, a former amateur racing driver, singer and actor. The team has won the Super Formula Teams’ Championship once in 2018 and finished seventh in the Teams’ Championship last year.

This announcement comes a few days before the first Super Formula tests of the year, set to take place on the 25th and 26th of February, where Staněk will make his Super Formula debut.
