Aston Martin is the most-talked-about team in the 2026 Formula One season, but surely not in the way that they would’ve hoped. The cars have not completed a full race yet, and now the team principal's role is under pressure.
The team in British racing green desperately needs some good results and stability. Not only management- and results-wise, but also because the vibrations in the car are still causing damage to the drivers.
Lance Stroll talked about the situation at the FIA press conference in Japan: "Everyone is working as hard as they can to improve the situation. None of us are happy with where we are, it is not the start of the season we hoped for, but it is what it is and we’re working hard to improve.”

The Canadian has not given up all hope yet: “I think the car still has potential. We know we’ve got issues on the engine side. There’s areas we need to work on. I think high speed corners are still an issue for us. We’re just trying to improve in all the areas that we can, that need work. It’s just about bringing performance as quick as we can.”
Japan is the home of Aston Martin’s new engine supplier Honda. Although it hasn’t been a happy marriage yet, maybe the Japanese fans can give the team some extra support.
When asked about the team’s goals for Honda’s home grand prix, Stroll says: “We’re just trying to improve on the issues we had in China, we had big vibration problems, liability issues, just tackling some of those problems. Getting both cars to the chequered flag would be a huge step forward for us.”

With all the problems that are haunting Aston Martin, the team principal’s role is under pressure. Adrian Newey might lose his job soon. When Stroll was asked about this, he responded: “I don’t know all the details about that.
“I know Adrian is the team principal right now and I know we need to improve the engine, we need to improve the car. I think that’s what everyone is focused on.”
