DELiGHTWORKS RACING has recently announced that they will be stepping up to compete in Super Formula starting in 2026. The outfit is currently competing in the Super Formula Lights series and competed in the final two rounds of the 2024 Formula Regional Japanese Championship.

If the name DELiGHTWORKS rings a bell, it’s probably because they are the developers behind Fate/Grand Order, the 8th highest-grossing mobile game in history. They have been branching out into racing recently, sponsoring a few drivers and teams, including Team Mugen in Super Formula, and are now entering Super Formula.

The team will only be entering one car for the 2026 season and is expected to run two cars from the 2027 season onwards. They will be using the Honda/M-TEC HR-417E engine.

Masato Shimoyama, the team principal of their Super Formula Lights team, will take the role of team representative and manager, spearheading their motorsport campaigns.

Nobuharu Matsushita will be returning to the grid, driving the sole DELiGHTWORKS car for next year. He is a race winner in both Super Formula and Super GT and has been a development driver for Sauber’s and McLaren’s F1 teams. His experience will surely prove to be a valuable addition to the new team.

The team is expected to join the grid starting at the Official Test at the end of the season.
