The Supercars Championship have another nineteen laps to go this afternoon at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Broc Feeney and Aaron Cameron have the front row to themselves, Brodie Kostecki and Chaz Mostert eagerly behind in the second row.

With two iconic races already under the field's belt, race 6 is set for exciting action and exhilarating speed in Melbourne.

As it happened

For the second last time in Melbourne, it was race time for the 2026 Supercars Championship field after a small delay.

Feeney was off the line smoothly, moving to cover Cameron. All wasn't smooth for long, Rylan Gray off somewhere in the background, avoiding a spin and run, Jayden Ojeda facing the wrong way after a tangle with Zach Bates and Cameron Hill.

Lap 1 gave Matthew Payne, championship leader, a triple puncture, leaving him stranded after alleged contact with James Golding.

Kostecki was all over the back of Cameron on lap 2. It didn't end there for further down the pack - three wide ended in heartbreak; Will Brown and Jack Le Brocq pushing their limits took out Cooper Murray in the No.99 Chevrelot. Murray was seemingly out of Saturday's SuperSprint.

A safety car made its appearance on lap 3, Murray's car well and truly beached at a Turn 12 gravel trap. He later made it out after assistance from officials, heading back to the pits. A broken right rear damper was able to be repaired during the safety car.

The race restarted on lap five, Feeney charging forward, Cameron and Kostecki sticking close to his rear - Waters slightly on his own behind as Mostert and Brown were stuck in their own battle. On the same lap, stewards released there would be a post race investigation for cars No.88, No.99, and No.4 after the lap 2 incident.

Lap 6, Kostecki dives deep at Turn 11, clearing Cameron in his path - all eyes forward to the rear of Feeney's No.88 Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang. Further down the pack, Mostert was passed by Brown, with Kai Allen making his presence known - the No.1 Toyota Supra looking slower than the field around.

Lap 7, a four-way battle ended poorly in Turn 7 for Thomas Randle with Ryan Wood lending a hand in the wall contact for the No.55 Mustang, effectively ending his race for today; no injuries reported.

Yet another safety car took hold of Race 6, a car removal and clean up mission for track marshals.

A second restart kicked off on the end of lap nine, Kostecki going with Feeney as their battle is recharged - the No.17 Mustang only +0.157 behind.

Cameron through Turn 5 stayed committed, using every bit of road as he almost kissed the wall on the exit.

Lap 10 heated up for Feeney and Kostecki, Waters behind battling out Cameron - contact door to door.

From the incident with Randle on lap 7, Wood received a whopping 30-second time penalty for a driving infringement - ramping up the chaos of an early Saturday evening race in Albert Park.

Lap 11, Brown in the No.888 hit battered Cameron in the No.3 Mustang, race control noting the incident.

Lap 12, Turn 10 saw Feeney slide across the grass after some contact, rejoining ahead of Kostecki with luck - their battle a nail biting fight for fans; Waters beginning to get in on it.

On what became the second last lap (time constraint hit) Allen was seen putting the pace in, hitting a fastest lap time - an extra ten points in his pocket for the championship if he were to keep it: 1:48.418 the pace to beat.

Allen continued to push, overtaking Waters - Didn't last long, Waters taking back his place on the last step of the podium.

The last lap, Feeney went off to the dirt , risking his defence on Kostecki as they roar towards the finish line.

Broc Feeney got his first win of the weekend at Albert Park in the No.888 Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang.

The last race of the weekend kicks off tomorrow morning at 10:10am local time.
