It was Andre Heimgartner on top of the world for Race 15 Qualifying at Symmons Plains in Tasmania, marking a new start for Brad Jones Racing after a two-year drought of no race wins within the team, providing high hopes for the race ahead.

Joining him on the front row was Matt Payne in the No.19 Penrite Mustang, just 0.0553 behind.

On the second row, posing a threat to the two men ahead was old-time rivals Broc Feeney and Ryan Wood, giving hopes to what would be an interesting battle for Race 15 of the 2026 championship.

As it happened

Race 15 marks Tasmania's 100th race on the Supercars calendar, making it inevitable to be one race to remember.

Straight off the starting line, Heimgartner converted his pole position to race leader confidently while the commotion broke out towards the back of the field; Zach Bates spinning and returning to the track after tangling with Kai Allen.

With yet another 50 laps at Tasmania, the field bunch together closely on the opening laps, Broc Feeney making his presence known early on, chasing down the leader of the race in the No.8 GR Toyota Supra.

The action calmed; often known as the calm before the storm - Lap 15 marked some chaos as the pit window opened, Allen pitting early on, Jayden Ojeda was spun around by reigning champion Chaz Mostert.

Lap 20 saw a beautiful pass on Wood by Kostecki, the two coming side by side on approach to Turn 4, all while a 15-second time penalty was awarded to Mostert in the No.1 GR Toyota Supra from earlier contact on Ojeda.

Kostecki gained bodywork damage on Lap 23 by David Reynolds, a hard hit to the rear, the No.17 Mustang smoking with significant damage, a tyre rubbing on the rear bumper. Reynold's Chevrolet Camaro also looked a bit worse for wear in the front. The contact was placed under investigation.

The battle continued between Kostecki, Wood, and Reynolds. Kostecki headed into pit lane - DJR Shell V Power Racing Team doing their best to reduce future damage to tyres.

By Lap 28, an unsurprising 15-second time penalty was awarded to Reynolds. Towards the end of the race, De Pasquale saw an unfortunate lock-up, which he was able to recover from - only losing one singular position to Will Brown.

Heimgartner remained the race leader, crossing the finish line, bringing BJR to victory once again after a stint of no top step podium results in two years, while also pushing Toyota to the top of the grid of racing in Australia.
