On the front row, Broc Feeney and Matt Payne set the tone for what was to come in Race 16.

Behind them, Jayden Ojeda surprised fans qualifying in third at the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shoot Out, Anton De Pasquale joining him on the grid in fourth.

It was set to be a thrilling race, with Feeney showcasing his speed and intentions for the afternoon, completing a time of 0:51.379 on pole.

As it happened

Racing got chaotic very early on, pushes and shoves from the front to the back of the pack - Feeney and Payne stuck together like glue through it all during the opening laps.

By Lap 9, Will Brown and Anton De Pasquale were locked into a fierce battle, Brown heading off course momentarily to scoop some dirt up, three other cars eager to join in on the battle - upon entry to the track, Brown came head to head with Brodie Kostecki.

Lap 17 marked a pivotal point in the 84 lap race, with Kostecki's No.17 Shell V Power Mustang suffering a fuelling issue; allegedly, the compulsory pit stop failed to get all of the required fuel administrated.

It was a nightmare weekend for Kostecki, with Lap 37 showcasing Chaz Mostert coming up onto Kostecki, squeezing him off the race line, effectively causing a loss to race pace.

The horror continued for car No.17, Lap 66 marking a braking issue while Thomas Randle and Jayden Ojeda had a small squabble.

More chaos at Turn 4 on Lap 68 between Brown and De Pasquale, a close call as the Chevrolet Camaro went deep under braking, with Brown's No.888 Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang on cold tyres braking earlier than anticipated.

Jackson Walls had a hairy moment in front of pit lane, battling with Cameron Hill going wrong after a small kiss to the rear by Walls - a notable recovery for the rookie.

By Lap 71, Feeney had the stakes loosened, taking a pit stop with a 40-second gap between himself an Payne. Meanwhile Le Brocq suffered a misfire issue, continuing on from earlier in the weekend.

After a fabulous dominant stint on Sunday in Tassie, Feeney brought his No.88 Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang home, building his gap by +7.136, however he had traffic between him and the podium.

Feeney had made a point to showcase his confidence this weekend, the comfort and poise oozing as he flew past the chequered flag, winning Race 16, extending his championship lead.

Yoing gun Broc Feeney has now equalled Australian Motorsport legend, Dick Joshnson twelfth, in all time race wins, effectively entering his most dominant era thus far.

Tasmania being a stop in the Supercars Championship marked a massive weekend for Motorsport in Australia, with 31,801 fans in attendance at Symmons Plains Raceway; a twelve and a half percent increase from last year.

This building momentum in Sueprcars in a tribute to the talent on track. Catch Round 6 in Darwin from the Friday the 19th of June.
