McLaren have announced a ‘major’ partnership with trillion dollar tech company Google.

McLaren CEO, Zak Brown, has said that he is “delighted and proud to welcome Google to the McLaren Racing family.”

“Google is a global leader in technology and has been a ground-breaking innovator in connecting people around the world…We’re looking forward to an exciting partnership that spans across Formula 1 and Extreme E.”

The partnership sees an added lick of paint; coating the new to 2022 wheel rims in the Google colours green, blue, yellow and red. It further sees Google partner and mobile company, Android, branding implemented onto the engine cover.

Mclaren will also use “5G-enabled Android devices and Chrome browser [during] practice sessions, qualifying and races to support the drivers and team.”

“Google branding will also be visible on the Number 58 McLaren MX Extreme E race car, and on the race suits of McLaren MX Extreme E drivers Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust from the 2022 Island X Prix”, stated Brown.
