What to Expect from Formula 3 – Hungarian Grand Prix

It’s race week and Formula 3 is back! It’s been almost a month since the last F3 race in Spielberg, but this time we’re heading to the Hungaroring for the 4th round of this FIA Formula 3 season with every driver willing to gain the most of this weekend before heading to the summer break.

Championship leader Dennis Hauger, is currently leading the F3 drivers championship with 115 points, while Vesti with 74 and Doohan with 72 are following. Regarding the team standings Prema is leading with 207 points, while Trident with 136 and ART with 165 are following.

So what should we expect from this race weekend?

Hungaroring is a circuit that feels more like a kart circuit due to the fact that there is a non-stop series of corners where tyres are constantly working. Therefore, we’re expecting to see a really close qualifying tomorrow as the starting position in Hungaroring is essential since the overtaking opportunities are limited. Hauger and Vesti seem to have high chances for claiming the pole position according to their last qualifying appearances, but we shouldn’t be surprised if a different driver claims the pole position as Smolyar, Doohan, Collet and Martins are always delivering some great qualifying appearances.

Regarding the races, we’re expecting to see some great battles with drivers willing to risk it all in order to gain a reverse grid advantage. As you know, claiming pole position in Hungaroring is essential for every driver that still has his chances in the championship fight, but pole doesn’t guarantee the win. Therefore, the sprint races should provide us some great battles from the very first few corners, while the feature race is expected to be phenomenal.
