Marcus Armstrong has downplayed any lingering hostilities between himself and Romain Grosjean after the pair’s confrontation in the aftermath the Sonsio Grand Prix.
Grosjean was incensed with Armstrong after the Meyer Shank Racing driver made contact with him on Lap 27 in the fight for seventh. The Dale Coyne Racing driver argued that the move was totally unnecessary and that the damage to his suspension had been serious and race affecting.
Grosjean stormed to confront Armstrong in the pit lane after the race, after he said on the radio: “The race is gone. He has an easy top five and now we are f****** last.”
From Armstrong’s point of view, the pair “just sort of made a bit of contact at one point, to be fair it was nothing too extraordinary."

“I mean IndyCar racing is aggressive at the best of times right, so anyway we had a bit of a touch, we clearly both continued it was all fine, yeah that’s what triggered his reaction.”
Immediately after the race, Armstrong said that “I think he (Grosjean) fancied a bit of a fistfight, a bit of MMA.”
However, Armstrong is more known for his laid back air, admitting that he is “not the confrontational type.”
Instead, he hoped that both he and Grosjean leave the intensity of the incident behind: “It’s just racing when things get heated like, that’s just how it is. I’ve been in that situation many, many times in my life where there’s been heated discussions after the race.”
“I don’t know what to say about it because, him and I are friends, firstly, we’re still friends now. It’s all chill. I haven’t actually spoken to him but it’s all good.”
