BMW has revealed the revised version of its BMW M Hybrid V8, which included new front styling with a smaller kidney grille and improved aerodynamics, set for the 2026 seasons of World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship (IMSA).

It is yet to be known whether the German marque will enter two cars for both campaigns, as it is set to be handled by WRT.

Subject to their final homologation, the BMW M Hybrid V8 underwent aerodynamic updates based on data gained by engineers during previous race outings.

The most prominent change to the LMDh car is its front end. The splitter is adjusted to optimise airflow, while the team's signature kidney grille has been reduced in size but will retain its Iconic Glow contour lighting in order to stand out in the dark. This included new set of headlights.

These updates are implemented to improve the car's cooling efficiency and the consistency of the car's performance across all track layouts it will race on.

The latest developments on the car were also conducted in close collaboration with chassis partner Dallara, which supplied the chassis spine.

The official shots of the revamped car in a camouflage livery were taken during testing at Circuit Paul Ricard earlier this month.

Following the recent private test sessions, the BMW M Hybrid V8 is set to make its first public appearance during a joint test after the upcoming WEC round at the Circuit of the Americas.

Subject to the final homologation, the upgraded car will make its official debut at the 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening round of the IMSA series.
