The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) returns for one final time before its summer break as the drivers head to the twisty and technical Oulton Park.
NAPA Racing UK driver Ashley Sutton continues to impress, holding a significant championship gap over VERTU driver Tom Ingram. Nonetheless, the field remains extremely competitive, with WSR driver Charles Rainford standing out during the previous rounds at Snetterton.
VERTU appears to have finally hit its stride at Snetterton, despite a retirement for Ingram. Ricky Collard continues to impress, while Tom Chilton also drove well last time out. Meanwhile, Nicolas Hamilton scored an emotional and historic Jack Sears Trophy victory. As the championship heads into its summer break post-Oulton Park, this weekend poses a significant challenge for Ingram and any other championship hopefuls; it is a weekend where they must reign in Sutton and close the gap at the top of the standings. This, in turn, could set up an exciting second half of the year.

Gordon Shedden took an impressive win in Race 3 at Snetterton and, with the overall potential that both Toyota teams have shown, they will likely look to build on that performance this weekend. Meanwhile, Plato Racing remains eager to progress, and Restart will look to secure more points finishes after a disappointing start to the year.
PMR struggled at Snetterton, so the team will look to return to its early-season form this weekend. With critical battles brewing throughout the grid, it is shaping up to be an entertaining weekend of action.
The Track
The 2.26-mile (3.64km) layout of Oulton Park poses a fast, flowing, technical challenge for the drivers this weekend, but it also includes slow-speed corners that will be critical to achieving the optimal Lap time.
Island Bend, the Hislops chicane and Lodge Corner highlight the key overtaking opportunities, but with the entertaining nature of the BTCC, we are likely to see some exciting races this weekend. Last year, it was a win apiece for Sutton, Ingram and Shedden.

Schedule
The BTCC is first out on track for its 40-minute Free Practice session at 10:30 local time on Saturday. Qualifying and the Race to Pole follow at 14:00 and 15:05, respectively.
The usual three-Race Sunday gets underway with Race 1 at 12:25 local time. Race 2 gets underway at 14:55, with Race 3 wrapping up the weekend at 17:20. All three races will be contested over their standard distances.
There will be support action this weekend from the Scottish Legends Championship, the MINI Challenge, retro touring cars and the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB.
