The first signing to the 2026 Power Maxed Racing group has been confirmed, as Dexter Patterson will be getting behind the wheel for the season.

Team Principle, Adam Weaver, said it's important the team "put ourselves in a position to challenge across the board", and Patterson is one of the major components making this happen.

Patterson had a successful junior career, winning multiple karting series, including the WSK Super Master Series in 2019. The Scottish driver switched to single seater race cars in 2020, finishing 12th in the Formula 4 UAE Championship on debut, however this was as good as it got.

Patterson's only single seater podium came in the 2021 GB3 Championship, so in 2022 he left the single seater world for touring cars. The (then) teen signed with Laser Tools Racing, picking up a best result of 14th twice during the season, and finishing 23rd out of 32 in the driver's championship.

Patterson signed with Team HARD for 2023, where he scored an all time BTCC career best of 6th place at Knockhill. The result helped him go one better on his debut year, finishing 21st in the Championship, although with eight times more points than the year prior.

A year out in 2024 hindered his progress, but Patterson returned in 2025 with Un-Limited Motorsport. Despite the brief sabbatical, the young driver finished 20th in the Championship and fourth place in the Jack Sears Trophy.

For 2026, Patterson will race Power Maxed Racing's new Audi A3 Saloons.

Patterson said: "I’m really excited to be joining Power Maxed Racing at such an important time for the team. The move to the Audi S3 makes this a fresh project for everyone, and that’s something that really motivated me.

"Last season showed what we’re capable of when everything comes together. For 2026, the goal is to start strongly, keep building momentum, and make sure we’re fighting consistently at the front end of the grid."
