IndyCar confirms final nine races of 2027 calendar

The NTT IndyCar Series has announced the second phase of its 2027 calendar, confirming the remaining nine races of the season, including a historic return to Europe and a season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Following the announcement of the opening eight rounds in August, IndyCar has now completed its 17-race schedule, with the second half featuring a mixture of oval, road course and street circuit events.
Among the biggest changes is the addition of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which will host the championship's first European race since 2007. Meanwhile, Laguna Seca returns as the season finale, replacing Nashville Superspeedway, which was on the calendar from 2024 to 2026.
FOX will continue to broadcast all 17 races in the United States for the third consecutive season, alongside additional coverage of Indianapolis 500 qualifying and Carb Day.
Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles highlighted the championship's recent growth and the importance of maintaining its momentum heading into 2027.
"The 2027 season will build off a record-shattering and landmark year for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES," Miles said. "The sport's growth has been immense, driving incredible viewership gains, reaching new fans in younger demos and attracting increased commercial interest from emerging and long-term partners.
"Our relationship with FOX Sports continues to set an industry standard, and this schedule will help us build on all of these gains and take things to the next level."
The second phase begins at World Wide Technology Raceway on 13 June, with the 1.25-mile oval returning after an eventful 2026 race. Last year's event featured 17 lead changes and a track-record 268 passes for position.
Two weeks later, IndyCar heads to Road America on 27 June for the championship's 37th visit to the Wisconsin circuit. The four-mile road course is the longest on the calendar, with its high-speed corners and lengthy straights presenting a different challenge from the previous round.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will continue its traditional Fourth of July weekend slot on Sunday, 4 July, hosting its 44th IndyCar race in 2027. The 2.258-mile, 13-turn circuit is the longest-running road course event on the calendar, with its elevation changes and tight corners providing a challenge for drivers.
The championship will then head overseas to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 18 July, marking IndyCar's return to Europe for the first time in nearly two decades. The Spanish circuit becomes the only venue outside North America on the 2027 calendar, with the event taking place midway through the season.
Following Barcelona, the series returns to the United States for Portland International Raceway on 1 August. The 12-turn circuit has become a regular stop on the calendar, with four different teams finishing inside the top four during the 2026 race.
The championship then heads north to Canada for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham on 15 August. The 2.19-mile street circuit, which made its debut in 2026, features 12 corners and a unique double-sided pit lane, while its inaugural race produced 258 on-track overtakes, more than any other street circuit on the calendar last season.
The Milwaukee Mile will host the penultimate weekend of the season, with a doubleheader scheduled for 28 and 29 August.
The historic one-mile oval returned to hosting two races in 2024 and will once again offer drivers two opportunities to score championship points in the same weekend. The opening race in 2026 produced 696 on-track passes, the highest total recorded during the season.
The 2027 championship will then conclude at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on 5 September, marking the circuit's 13th time hosting the IndyCar season finale.
The 2.238-mile California road course is best known for its Corkscrew, a downhill sequence of corners which has become one of the most recognisable sections of any circuit in American motorsport.
Laguna Seca hosted the season finale from 2019 to 2023, before Nashville Superspeedway took over in 2024. Nashville has been dropped from the 2027 schedule, leaving Tennessee without an IndyCar race.
With the championship finishing at Laguna Seca, drivers will face a demanding road course to decide the title, following two races at Milwaukee the previous weekend.
“One of the things that makes INDYCAR so special is that winning a championship requires drivers and teams to be competitive on every type of racetrack,” INDYCAR President J. Douglas Boles said. “From high-speed ovals to tight street circuits and challenging road courses, they face a different test almost every weekend. The 2027 schedule continues that tradition, featuring the 111th Running of the Indianapolis 500, alongside some of the most iconic racetracks in North America, and the historic addition of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. With 25 full-time entries battling for a championship and every race broadcast on FOX, our fans have an incredible season of racing to look forward to.”
The 2027 calendar will feature 17 races across 16 venues, with 25 full-time entries expected to compete for the championship. Race start times and the Indy NXT schedule will be announced at a later date.
