Nick Cassidy leaves Jaguar after two seasons

Nick Cassidy has left Jaguar TCS Racing following a turbulent two-year stint with the team. The New Zealand-born driver has so far managed to accumulate just three wins in what has proven to be a challenging two seasons for the 30-year-old.

Cassidy joined Jaguar ahead of Season 10, having spent four seasons with Envision, where he challenged for the championship but ultimately fell short.

The Kiwi leaves Jaguar having scored four wins and 11 podiums for the British team, having been evenly matched over the two seasons with fellow Kiwi and teammate Mitch Evans.

Season 11 proved challenging for Cassidy and Jaguar: after Round 1 in Mexico City, Cassidy admitted the team were in a difficult place, saying he was “unsure” about how competitive the team would be. Yet the Kiwi, though, said he was “more excited about the second half of the season” with upgrades set to follow.

However, results have been hard to come by for the whole season, managing just one top ten start prior to Round 10 in Shanghai. However, Cassidy and Jaguar have turned a corner heading into the later half of 2025. Having scored a podium in changeable conditions at Monaco, Cassidy aced the wet Shanghai International Circuit to score a victory in Round 11, having started from pole after a sodden qualifying session.

The Kiwi also added a top-five finish in Round 13 in Berlin, from 21st on the road, before taking a race victory from the same position in Round 14 the following day. His latest surge in points have resulted in an elevation into the top five of the standings, as Cassidy sits just one point off Porsche’s António Félix da Costa in fourth, and ten points behind McLaren’s Taylor Barnard in third.

However, this is far from his championship-contending foray in Season 10 for the same team, when he dropped a 40-point lead heading into the final four races of 2024.

"The decision to leave Jaguar TCS Racing has not been an easy one, but ultimately it is the right one for me personally," says Cassidy. "I’d like to thank everyone at the team for their support since I joined at the beginning of Season 10.

"We have fought hard and had some great success together. I particularly want to thank the engineers and mechanics on the #37 side of the garage – we’ve made some amazing memories!

"Looking ahead to London this weekend, we’ll work as hard as ever as a team to ensure we’re competitive and fighting for another top three finish in the Drivers' World Championship.”

Outgoing team principal James Barclay too spoke praise for Cassidy, as both faces will depart the Jaguar team at the end of Season 11:

“Nick is an exceptional racing driver and a very astute competitor as the world can see from his performances."

"He has impressed everyone in the team with his unwavering dedication to win and I’m proud of the role he’s played in our team success. On behalf of the whole team, I’d like to thank Nick and wish him all the best for a successful future - starting of course with the final race weekend of the 2024/2025 Season in London, where together we’ll still be fighting as hard as ever for points, podiums and wins.”
