The closing laps of the Canadian Grand Prix saw Lando Norris collide with his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, whilst fighting for P4. This brought out a safety car for the end of the race as Norris retired.

Immediately after the clash, Norris took responsibility over the team radio: “I’m sorry. All my bad. All my fault. Stupid from me.”

When speaking to Sky Sports after the race, Norris said: “No one to blame but myself, so I apologise to the whole team and to Oscar as well for attempting something probably a bit too silly.

“Glad I didn’t ruin his race. In the end apologies to the team."

A clash between the teammates was inevitable: “This is just more silly. It wasn’t even like a ‘that’s racing’ it was just silly on my part.”

Norris on resetting ahead of Austria: “I go to bed tonight and apologise to everyone and then crack on."

Piastri also reacted to the clash: "Obviously it's not ideal for anyone but I haven't actually seen the incident, so I don't know what exactly happened. But if Lando has taken full responsibility then that's how it goes I guess. Just a bit of a tricky race in general and not an ideal finish.”

The result of the Canadian Grand Prix puts more pressure on Norris from Max Verstappen and George Russell in the drivers’ championship. Piastri leads with a 22-point gap to Norris.
